Repurposed Shipping Container Wrap

Repurposing and reusing shipping containers has become very popular in the last few years. Why is this? They have many uses -inexpensive, safe, easy to install, move around easily, and are reused or repurposed. All these reasons are attractive to many different types of industries – commercial, industrial, construction sites, onsite offices, school and classrooms, housing, and hotel rooms. Reusing and repurposing them is another trendy way to extend the life of old shipping containers. To use something in a different way keeps a lot of stuff out of our landfills and the ideas that come out of the trend are endless and amazing!

How to Transform Your Shipping Container

With the popularity growing, we can expect to see repurposed shipping containers more and more. The containers are made of heavy-duty, corrugated steel which stands up to weather and pests. But how do you make these containers look more attractive and noticeable? Just like a vehicle wrap with your business information, the same thing can be done for a corrugated steel shipping container. A digitally printed design can transform an ugly shipping container into an effective advertisement for your brand. Or maybe you just want to make a statement and have a piece of modern art that compliments or juxtaposes the surrounding environment.

The Wrapping Process

The wrap is done on all sides of the modular building using premium wrap vinyl and protective laminate film to properly adhere to the deeply corrugated surface. If you’re not sure what to do for the design, you can work with a skilled graphic designer to create something that will scale up to the full size and not be pixelated or blurry. Unlike a vehicle wrap, don’t worry about bringing the steel container to us, we will come to you! Our team has all the tools they need to get the job done onsite.

Custom vehicle graphics from connecting signs in Fort Collins

Vehicle Graphics for a Kia Soul

The graphics on this Kia Soul really stand out and get noticed! They’re bright and the message is to the point, and you just can’t miss it if you drive by it on the highway or in town. The custom printed graphics and colors are nothing like the factory paint job – in fact, can you imagine how difficult it would be to create this using paints?!

Any time you can start with a vehicle that already gets noticed because of its size and shape and enhance it with an effective design, you end up with a true marketing machine that literally drives your message home. The key components of an effective vehicle wrap design are showcased in this wrap for iPoint Technologies‘ Kia Soul, which can be seen driving all over Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. Those design components include:

1. A Simple Design

Sure, crazy abstract images will certainly get someone’s attention, but they might not help the viewer retain any messaging you are trying to convey. A complicated, confusing design will probably leave the viewer with an impression that they saw something, but won’t be able to remember specifics. Simple vehicle wrap designs will help with message retention and keeping continuity in the theme of the marketing campaign.

2. Limited Text

When it’s moving, the viewer only has a couple of seconds at most to take in the message, definitely more when stopped at lights or at a stop sign. In most cases, the viewer of the graphics won’t have time to read through a long list of your company’s important products or services. Save the detailed information for your website, and think of your vehicle wrap as a tool to drive potential clients to your website. A good practice is to pick out 2 or 3 key services that immediately inform the viewer what you offer, a tag-line or catchphrase that differentiates you from your competition is a great idea as well. Finish it off with your company name, logo, and web address. Any and all pictures and graphics should be complementary to your messaging.

3. Complementary Themes and Colors

The colors and themes of the wrap design need to be complementary with each other, and not clash. The potential client may notice the clashing colors more than your important products and services! It’s best to stay away from dozens of colors and limit them to just two with a possible accent color.

Fort Collins Commercial Vehicle Wraps

connecting signs van wrap

Vehicle wraps are a low cost, high impact advertisement displayed on your vehicle or fleet of vehicles. Unlike traditional forms of outdoor advertising, vehicle advertising goes to where the people are. A single commercial vehicle wrap can leave impressions at a parking garage, at a shopping mall, at a local restaurant, or on the highway.  Many studies have shown that one wrap generates 30,000 to 70,000 impressions daily. Our numbers here in Fort Collins may not be quite that high, but you definitely get the picture!

Advertising Vehicle Wraps Get Noticed

A recent poll shows that:

  • 90% of travelers notice graphics on wrapped vehicles.
  • 75% of consumers form impressions about a company based on the fleet graphics.
  • 30% of consumers base buying decisions on impressions they receive from company vehicles.

No doubt that numbers like these show we are a very visual society, driven by effective advertising and marketing. Vehicle wrap advertising caters to all levels of businesses and projects the message like no other form of advertising can.

Comparing the costs with more traditional forms of advertising, a display in the Yellow Pages can reach costs of $12,000 for just one year. With that approach, not only do you have to wait for someone to pick up the right directory where you are listed, you also have to share advertising space with competing businesses.  There’s really no comparison at all – a full vehicle wrap costs somewhere between $2,000 and $5,000 (a one-time fee), with partial wraps being a portion of that. Also, a high-quality vehicle wrap can last anywhere from 3 to 6 years.  At the same time, a quality wrap is completely removable.

Banners are great marketing tools!

Banners are a great way to quickly and effectively get your message seen

At Connecting Signs we pride ourselves in designing, building, and delivering exactly what you want, as quickly as you need. Just this past Friday at 2 pm our customer called in a panic and said “I need a 10’ x 40’ banner ASAP!!!” They needed it by noon the following Monday, and we were able to deliver a fully finished (hems and grommets) custom-print banner just in time. There is no other sign option I know of that can be done in that time frame and in that size.

Banners are both of great value and at the same time very versatile.  They are inexpensive and can be used both indoors and outdoors; they are also portable and can be placed in different spots very easily.

We start with a sturdy, resilient-vinyl and employ the latest technology digital printing equipment and techniques, combined with high-quality latex inks to produce your design. Our large format HP printer and inks also provide a very environment-friendly solution. We like being able to help reduce the use of harsh solvent inks and the resulting chemical out-gassing.

Aluminum tension frames to keep it tight

Banners get a bad rap for using ropes, bungee cords, duct tape, or whatever else to throw it up on a wall or between a couple of posts. They also have the reputation of not lasting very long. We recently did an installation of a 7’ x 28’ banner that is mounted in an aluminum frame which will keep the banner held tightly and securely on a south exposure outdoor installation.

Building Banners

It gives a permanent “look” to a simple vinyl banner and should give the owner years of effective advertising. We’ll have to wait to see exactly how long it lasts but have been told to expect at least 5-7 years. The great thing about this install is that the aluminum frame allows a quick change-out to a replacement banner or a brand new message! You just cannot get that level of versatility or value from a traditional hard-substrate sign.

At Connecting Signs, we live and breathe customer service. For banners, you have the option of submitting your own design, or you can have our professional design team create one at no extra charge. We will send you a full-color proof – FREE – for your approval. Once we get your approval, we generally print your banner within 24 to 48 hours. We also have no color limits or additional charges for full custom graphics. If you can dream it up, we can do it.

So whether you are in a crunch and need to get your business advertised QUICKLY, or you need something for your school, sports team, or even a wedding – give us a call at (970) 493-0133 or request a quote here. We will Get-R-Done!
